A little of this, a bit of that....

As Tim said in our last post, my dad had knee replacement surgery a few weeks back. It was quite sudden -- only a week and a half from the doctor's appointment where they decided to do the surgery to the surgery itself. Although knee replacements are pretty routine and can be done at most hospitals, my dad had to have his done in Salt Lake so the liver doctors could monitor his liver (he had a liver transplant five years ago). My mom stayed with us while he was in the hospital, and I went up to Logan to help out the following week. My dad is doing pretty well with his recovery. He has a great goal (to be able to work at the temple again and climb the stairs) so I know he'll be able to continue to strengthen his knee.

Ariana is now 3 months old and still a joy! She loves to sit up with help, and her neck muscles are getting strong enough to hold her head up. She still bobs a bit but is getting better each day. She is working on reaching for objects. Her new favorite thing to do is standing up. We love her more and more each day.

We had an amazing thunderstorm here today. It reminded me of storms in the Midwest. Even though it's warm, part of me wanted to cuddle up with a blanket, a book, and a mug of hot cocoa. What a blessing to live in this beautiful world that has been created just for us!
